David Wark Griffith was an American director, writer, and producer who pioneered modern cinematic techniques. He is most remembered for his film, "the birth of a nation" (1925) and "Intolerance" (1916). The birth of a nation made use of advanced camera and narrative techniques that are still being incorporated in todays modern film. He is most known for these pieces as "The Birth of a Nation" is an extremely controversial film with his racial views being put forth, "Intolerance" was his answers to his critiques.
