Description:
I long to be back in Portland and on a software engineering team working on open source.
I join Core Tech, a distributed team at Mapbox responsible for building and improving the performance and stability of the core infrastructure behind our map services, including our Maps API and Uploads API.
We pair, give deep dives, and support each other. Sometimes there are tears and often there are hugs. Our foundation is strong and the work we do is technically challenging and exciting.
Core Tech is known as a model team at the company. Many top-down changes happen in a very short time including a reorg causing the team to be disbanded, a team member quitting, and a retroactive relocation policy pressuring many remotes to move.
