Charter Colonies (jan 1, 1629 – feb 26, 1763)
Description:
Charter Colonies were generally self-governed, and their charters were granted to the colonists as opposed to proprietors. Charter colonies offered the most independence to colonists and after they became Royal Colonies many colonists were angered that they had lost their independence. The only charter colonies were Rhode Island, Conneticut, and Massachussets.
