Proprietary Colonies Mainly Used (jun 20, 1632 – jan 1, 1729)
Description:
The first Proprietary colony was in Maryland which was formed in 1632. All major Proprietary colonies became Royal colonies by 1729, but Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware still maintained minor independence. Proprietary colonies were important American independence because it gave American's their first taste in independence and would begin fostering resentment to British rule.
