Boston Tea Party (dec 16, 1773 – dec 16, 1773)

Description:

The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773 and there was a protest of colonists against the Tea Act in which some colonists, many were men of Sons of Liberty, decided to dress up in Native American clothes and then went onto ships at the port in Boston and they dumped 342 chests of tea in the water. This occurred because of the tea act which stated that there were taxes on tea and also large amounts of tea. This act created no literally damage other than the tea and everything was physically fine, but this creating the Coercive Acts which were laws passed by King George III that were about how the Boston Harbor was closed until the tea that had been dumped was paid for. This was the biggest law, but there were some other minor ones. Lastly, this event created frustration with the colonists because they tried to get back for what they had been unfairly taxed on, yet they got punished even more and the colonies realized that Britain won’t stop.
