Relations: Unlike luther/zwingli, anabaptists didnt want to work w secular authority either; were anarchists/totally individual interpretation of religion
Takeover of German city of Munster:
Thought world was ending, and predicted munster would be the site of a new jerusalem that would survive God’s final judgmenet
Called for communal ownership of property and expelled those who refused 2b rebaptized
Catholics + protestants bugged + took back the city
Generally feared / persecuted bc threatened authority; many executed as martyrs like Anna Jansz
Descendants = quakers (pacifism), baptists (inner light), congregationalists (democratic church organization), founding fathers (separation of church + state)
