The Townshend Acts The Townshend acts are actually not one but multiple acts put in to place by, guess who, the Britsh. They were passed in 1767 and 1768. The reason they are called the Townshend acts is because the chancellor of Britain passed them so they named it after him. (jan 1, 1767 – jan 1, 1768)
