The Stamp Act Congress (oct 7, 1765 – oct 19, 1765)
Description:
A set of meetings of delegates from the colonies to discuss what to do about the recently passed stamp act. The got together and wrote the Declaration of Rights. This document stated that: Only the colonial assemblies had a right to tax the colonies, trial by jury was a right and the use of Admiralty Courts was abusive, that the Colonists possessed all the rights of Englishmen,
and without voting rights, Parliament could NOT represent the colonists. Which was sent to the KIng and both Parliments in petition.
