NY Central Park & Green Space Planning (mar 21, 1853 – apr 24, 1856)

Description:

The first major city park in the US. Olmsted shared the Sanitarian view and wanted to inject green spaces into crowded urban environments to reduce diseases and crime.
He was also heavily influenced by the Romantic school and believe in the beauty and rectifying effect of nature, be believed that man can curate nature better than raw natural environments.
Central Park had influence over many other US city parks as well as suburban development because his team also worked on a lot of park and suburb designs (Riverside 1869).
In 1883 made park system proposal - Park plans became not only individual city parks, but also systems of parks. Streets and their green ways connect parks in a region
