Description:
second son of Emperor Francis I and his wife, Empress Maria Theresa, and the brother of Marie Antoinette and Joseph II. Leopold was a moderate proponent of enlightened absolutism. He granted the Academy of Georgofili his protection.Like his parents before him, Leopold and his wife Maria Luisa of Spain had sixteen children, the eldest of his eight sons being his successor, Emperor Francis II.
