Melies was a magician turned film maker. Between 1896 to 1912, he created over 500 films.He also created his own camera from a modified Lumière Brothers design, since he couldn't buy one.
George Melies was important as he tried to revolutionise films with new stories and methods of creating imaginary worlds.
