Description:
- Jan '68, Dubcek came to power in Czechoslovakia- began the period of 'Prague Spring' (period of liberalisation)
- made clear wouldn't leave the Warsaw Pact, but Brezhnev still thought they had gone too far
- when Warsaw Pact troops invaded in August, the West refused to intervene
- viewed as a stumbling block in detente
