Arab Isreali War (may 14, 1948 – jul 4, 1949)

Description:

Once the British left Palestine and Isreal were proclaimed independent on the 14th of May, the Jewish state came under attack from Arab Palestinians, as well as 4 other neighboring Arab states. Miraculously, the Israelis not only were able to repel the Arab invaders but by the time an Armistice was reached in July of 1949, Isreal had taken control of what was initially planned out to be Palestine, with the rest falling under the jurisdiction of the Egyptians in Gaza, and the Jordanians for both East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
