February Revolution (feb 23, 1917 – mar 2, 1917)
Description:
A popular revolution; it was neither planned nor particularly directed.
-Initiated by International Women's Day marchers' demands for bread.
-2 March: A provisional government declared to run Russia until elections could be held for the Constituent Assembly.
-27 February: Petrograd Soviet formed. Soldiers included March 1 with Order No. 1. Factories and regiments elected members to the Soviet - from there an Executive Committee was chosen.
Kerensky initially acted as a member of both.
-Thus existed a state of dual power.
