Reservation Systems (may 20, 1851 – dec 20, 1851)
Description:
Under the reservation system, American Indians kept their citizenship in their tribes, but it made life much harder. The reservations were established to encourage the Indians to live within defined areas, and the U.S. promised to provide food, goods and money and to protect them from other tribes and white settlers. This failed because of the government lacked to keep the promises.
