Mesoamerican Cultural Unity (aug 30, 1470 – jan 23, 1479)

Description:

In the 1470s, unity was established in what was known as Mesoamerica. Prior to this decade, it was the Aztecs who had control of most of the land in and around present-day Mexico. Over the years, the Aztecs gained control of more land, more cultures, and more people - leading up to the 1470s. The end result of this gaining of land control was one large culture - Mesoamericans - centered around tobacco and chocolate. You could almost say that they worshipped these goods. Cacao beans were their form of currency, and slave women could be spared their lives if they were good at making chocolate. This event shows the importance of tobacco and chocolate during that time, and that was only the beginning of these goods' journey. Tobacco and chocolate only become higher in demand as the years and decades went on. This event is just the firm foundation of tobacco's and chocolate's establishment in the America's.
