Queen Himiko (jan 1, 183 – jan 1, 248)

Description:

Queen Himiko, also known as Pimiko or Pimiku, was the ruler of the territory known as Hsieh-ma-t'ai or Yamatai, later to be known as Yamato. Himiko is absent from Japanese historical records but appears briefly in Chinese histories. She was noted for being a shamaness, unmarried, and living in a fortress where she was served by 1,000 women. It is unknown whether she was actually born in 183.

Himiko's name in archaic Japanese means Sun Child or Sun Daughter.

Scholars continue to debate who Himiko was, where she might have ruled, and the location of her fabled burial mound, but without any consensus ever being reached.
