Description:
Korean War (1950 - 1953)
After the division of South Korea and North Korea, they both setted up their own nations and wanted to take over each other. So on June 25th 1950 North Korea came across the 38th line/parallel and attacked South Korea. Around 75,000 North Korean soldiers were sent and defeated South Korea. They soon took over South Korea’s capital Seoul and had defeated every other area except for Busan. This was a problem to the American president, president Truman because he wanted to stop the spread of communism. South Korea asked for help and the United states helped by the United nations security council. The United nation asked North Korea to withdraw its troops but it was simply ignored. As a result an UN army with 16 nation, commanded by General MacArthur went to support South Korea. They landed in Busan, korea in July and started fighting back. Later on October as they got more supports and soldiers they went upwards and starting fighting against the North Koreans. And then recaptured Seoul back from the North Koreans. The fight went on and on till 1953. In 1953 they started talking about peace and after a long negotiations the armistice was signed on July 27th 1953. The 38th line was turned into a demilitarised zone till today and remained in peace so far.
