Puerto Rico becomes a US commonwealth (mar 1, 1952 – oct 20, 1962)
Description:
On March 3 1952 the island Puerto Rico ratified the Commonwealth. Later in the same year the Us congress approaved the constitution on July 3rd. Puerto Rico's Constitutional convention approved it seven days later and than the new Commonwealth status was than proclaimed on July 25 1952. After this Puerto Rico was no longer a US colony officially.Added to timeline:
