1850-1864: Taiping rebellion (dec 1, 1850 – aug 1, 1864)
Description:
Total civil war between the established Manchu-led Qing dynasty and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. When nationalistic-racial protest subsided post-White Lotus rebellion, it was revived again by the Taipings. The Taipings were very anti-Qing and wanted to create a kingdom of their own instead of reviving the Ming.
