The Bantu Migration (jan 1, 1000 BC – jan 1, 1)
Description:
The Bantu-speaking peoples migrated from Western Africa southward and eastward, spreading out across all of the southern half of the African continent, especially into what is today known as South Africa.
The inclusion of this time period into this timeline is important as it sets the scene for the upcoming events. The Bantu migration is also some of the first recorded history from what is now South Africa.
The exact dates of the Bantu migration are still in dispute but the ones I have included here seem to be generally accepted by the majority of historians.
