asahi jidai/kogane jidai (aug 8, 774 – feb 17, 1068)
Description:
What comes to be known as the Asahimoshir or Sunrise Empire unifies the squabbling fiefdoms under one banner from Shimonokesi to Sendai all ruled from its mighty capital of Nagoya. In this period we see the synthesis of the a unique new culture of mixed japonic and ainu character, popularising in art and bureaucracy the use of a new royal language born of an aristocratic and rather nipponised south ainu variety. The relative stability and prosperity of this period is remembered as a golden age of cultural innovation
