The Revolutionary War (oct 30, 1775 – jan 22, 1783)

Description:

War between Americans and British. Started with Lexington and Concord, the shot heard around the world. Bunker hill was the wars first major battle. Washington lead Continental Army. Cornwallis and John Burgoyne lead the British. Saratoga was the turning point for American losses (they had struggled in the war so far). Burgoyne surrendered here. French helped after this win sending Marquis de Lafayette and Prussian Fredrich von Stueben. The British and Cornwallis surrender at Yorktown (September 1781) effectively ending the war. Washington and Lafayette blocked harbor and surrounded the British and attacked throughout the time the British were pinned in which was for a month. Then they surrendered.
