Tujunga John Doe
Approx. est. PMI (jan 1, 1978 – sep 30, 1979)
Description:
Sometime on Mon., Oct. 1, 1979, partial skeletal remains of a white male were found by a hiker in Big Tujunga Canyon seven miles north of Foothill Blvd in Tujunga, LA County, CA.
The decedent is believed to have been a white man aged either 19 to 39 years old (according to NamUs) or 23 to 39 years old (according to LACME). The estimated age group on NamUs is "Adult - Pre 40." He was about 5'7 or 5'8 tall. His eye color is unknown due to the condition of the remains; NamUs indicates that this is also the case for John Doe's hair color, while LACME states that he had brown hair. Blue/gray pants were found on or near the body.
John Doe is estimated to have died sometime in 1978 or 1979. Neither the manner nor cause of death, if they are known, are given by NamUs or LACME.
There are no MP exclusions on John Doe's NamUs page, which is case #UP4398. Anyone with information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, regarding John Doe or his death is urged to contact Investigator Betsy Magdaleno of LACME at (323) 343-0512. The agency case number is 1979-12277.
