Battle of Gettysburg (jul 1, 1863 – jul 3, 1863)
Description:
The Battle of Gettysburg, fought from July 1 to July 3 1863, was considered a very important point in the Civil War. New technology included observation balloons which could track enemy army movements in the air. The outcome of the battle was a massive Union victory and a Confederate retreat. This event impacted the outcoem of the war as it allowed the Union to push back the Confederates and heavily damaged the Confederate Army in Northern Virginia. It’s importance was the major defeat of the Confederates, as well as it leading up to the Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln which transformed the meaning of the war to the birth of a new nation.
