Shaikh Ahmad Sirhindi (Naqshbandi) (jan 24, 1563 – dec 17, 1624)
Description:
- Silsilah was established in India by Khwaja Bahauddin Naqshbandi and later on, propogated by thier successors, Sheikh Baqi Billah and Shaikh Ahmad Sirhindi
- Called 'silent sufis' due ot thier practice of silent meditation.
- Stressed on - shariat law; maintained taht relationship between man and god was that of slave and master
- criticised liberal policies of Akbar
- opposed listening of sama(religious music) and practice of pilimage to the tombs of saints
Later on after death of Sirhindi, order split
- Conservative: Shaj Waliullah
- Liberal: Mirza Mazhar Jan-i-Jahan
