Description:
Chaim Weizmann is associated with Synthetic Zionism, which tried to combine Political Zionism and Practical Zionism. He believed Zionists needed both diplomacy with world powers and real settlement-building in the Land of Israel.
Weizmann played a major role in gaining British support for Zionism, especially through the Balfour Declaration in 1917. He later became the first president of the State of Israel.
