Moshe Dayan (jan 1, 1915 – jan 1, 1981)
Description:
Moshe Dayan was one of Israel’s most iconic military leaders, known for his eyepatch and his role in several major Israeli wars. He fought in the pre-state Jewish forces, served in the IDF, and became Chief of Staff during the Sinai War of 1956.
Dayan later served as Minister of Defense during the Six-Day War in 1967, when Israel captured the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Golan Heights. He became a symbol of Israeli military confidence and victory, though his legacy became more controversial after the Yom Kippur War.
