Ze’ev Jabotinsky (jan 1, 1880 – jan 1, 1940)
Description:
Ze’ev Jabotinsky was a major Zionist thinker, writer, and founder of Revisionist Zionism. During World War I, he helped promote the creation of the Jewish Legion, a Jewish military force that fought with the British against the Ottoman Empire.
He is important as a military-related figure because he strongly believed that Jewish national revival required organized self-defense. His ideas later influenced groups such as Betar, the Irgun, and parts of Israel’s right-wing Zionist tradition.
