Description:
John of Giscala was a Jewish rebel leader from Giscala in Galilee during the First Jewish–Roman War. After Roman forces advanced in Galilee, he escaped to Jerusalem and became one of the most powerful rebel leaders in the city.
He led one of the main factions during the Roman siege of Jerusalem. John is important because he represents the Galilean resistance and the intense political-military rivalry among the Jewish defenders of Jerusalem.
