Joshua (High Priest) (jan 1, 538 BC – jan 1, 516 BC)
Description:
Joshua son of Jehozadak was the High Priest during the early Second Temple period, after the Jews returned from the Babylonian exile. He worked alongside Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, to rebuild the altar and restore Jewish worship in Jerusalem.
He is mentioned in the books of Haggai and Zechariah, where the prophets encourage him and Zerubbabel to complete the rebuilding of the Temple. Joshua represents the restoration of the priesthood after the destruction of the First Temple and the beginning of renewed Jewish religious life in Jerusalem.
