Maharal of Prague (jan 1, 1520 – jan 1, 1609)
Description:
The Maharal of Prague was one of the greatest Jewish thinkers of the early Acharonim. He wrote deep works on Torah, Jewish philosophy, exile, redemption, ethics, and rabbinic teachings. His style is known for explaining the inner meaning behind Midrash and Aggadah.
His ideas later influenced many different Jewish movements, including Hasidic thought, Lithuanian Torah scholarship, and religious Zionist thinkers. He is also popularly connected with the legend of the Golem of Prague, though his lasting importance comes from his writings and philosophy.
