(Rashba) Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet (jan 1, 1235 – jan 1, 1310)
Description:
The Rashba was one of the greatest halakhic authorities of medieval Spain and a leading student of the Ramban’s school. He wrote thousands of legal responsa, answering questions from Jewish communities across Europe and the Mediterranean. He was also a major Talmud commentator.
For your timeline, Rashba shows how the Rishonim became international legal authorities. Communities far away sent him questions, and his answers helped guide Jewish law in real-life situations.
