Eliezer Ben-Yehuda (jan 1, 1858 – jan 1, 1922)
Description:
Eliezer Ben-Yehuda was a Zionist writer, journalist, and lexicographer known as the father of the modern revival of the Hebrew language. He moved to Jerusalem in 1881 and worked to make Hebrew a spoken everyday language again, not only a language of prayer and study. His work helped prepare the cultural foundation for the future State of Israel, where Hebrew became the national language.
