Nachmanides, also known as Ramban, was a major Spanish rabbi, biblical commentator, philosopher, halakhic authority, physician, and Kabbalist. He is famous for his commentary on the Torah and for defending Judaism in the Disputation of Barcelona in 1263. Later in life, he moved to the Land of Israel and helped strengthen the Jewish community in Jerusalem and Acre.Added to timeline:
