Description:
Rabbi Akiva was one of the greatest sages of early Rabbinic Judaism after the destruction of the Second Temple. According to tradition, he began studying Torah later in life and became a major teacher of the Oral Torah. He is famous for emphasizing “Love your neighbor as yourself” as a central principle of the Torah. He supported Bar Kokhba during the revolt against Rome and was later executed by the Romans for continuing to teach Torah.
