Shimon Peres (jan 1, 1995 – jan 1, 1996)
Description:
After Rabin’s assassination, Shimon Peres became prime minister again. He tried to continue the Oslo process while also responding to terror attacks and security crises. His leadership came during a very tense emotional period, as Israel was still shocked by Rabin’s murder.
Peres lost the 1996 election to Benjamin Netanyahu. His short second term is mainly remembered as an attempt to carry forward Rabin’s peace policy under much more difficult conditions.
