Prophet Elijah (Israel) (jan 1, 870 BC – jan 1, 850 BC)

Description:

Elijah was one of the most powerful and dramatic prophets in the Hebrew Bible, active during the reign of King Ahab in the Northern Kingdom of Israel. He fought directly against idolatry, especially the worship of Baal promoted by Queen Jezebel, and famously proved God’s power on Mount Carmel by calling down fire from heaven. Elijah performed miracles such as bringing rain after a drought, multiplying food for a widow, and even reviving a child. At one point he fled in fear and despair, showing a very human side, but was strengthened by God and continued his mission.

What makes Elijah especially unique is that he does not die in the usual way—instead, he is taken up to heaven in a whirlwind. Because of this, Jewish tradition views him as a figure who will return in the future, particularly as a forerunner to the Messianic age
