King Amaziah (Judah) (jan 1, 795 BC – jan 1, 767 BC)
Description:
Amaziah began as a relatively righteous king, punishing his father’s assassins but sparing their children according to Torah law. He achieved victory over Edom but later brought back their idols, leading to prophetic rebuke. In pride, he challenged Israel (under Jehoash), which resulted in a humiliating defeat—Jerusalem’s wall was broken, and treasures were taken. His reign ended in conspiracy and assassination.
