Description:
After her son Ahaziah’s death, Athaliah seized power and attempted to wipe out the Davidic royal line, nearly ending the covenant dynasty. She promoted Baal worship in Judah, continuing the influence of Ahab’s house. However, the priest Jehoiada secretly preserved the young heir Joash and later led a revolt that removed Athaliah.
