King Jehoshaphat (Judah) (jan 1, 870 BC – jan 1, 848 BC)
Description:
Jehoshaphat strengthened religious life by sending teachers of Torah throughout Judah. He is generally considered righteous and sought God in times of crisis. However, he made a political alliance with Ahab king of Israel, including a joint military campaign. Before battle, he insisted on consulting a prophet, leading to the famous prophecy of Micaiah, who predicted disaster. Ahab was killed, and Jehoshaphat barely survived. Later, the Prophet Jehu rebuked him for helping the wicked. His reign shows strong faith mixed with poor political judgment.
