King Jehoash (Israel) (jan 1, 798 BC – jan 1, 782 BC)
Description:
Jehoash ruled during the final years of the prophet Elisha and had a notable interaction with him on his deathbed. Elisha instructed him symbolically to strike arrows on the ground as a sign of victory over Aram—but Jehoash struck only three times, limiting his future success. He achieved partial military victories, regaining some territory lost to Aram. He also defeated Amaziah of Judah, even breaching Jerusalem’s walls. Still, like his predecessors, he continued the golden calf worship.
