King Jehoahaz (Israel) (jan 1, 814 BC – jan 1, 798 BC)
Description:
Jehoahaz son of Jehu inherited a weakened kingdom and faced severe oppression from Aram (Syria), particularly under Hazael and Ben-Hadad. His army was reduced drastically, leaving Israel militarily crippled. Unlike many kings, he did cry out to God, and God responded by granting temporary relief, though not full restoration. Despite this, Jehoahaz did not abandon the sins of Jeroboam, and idolatry remained entrenched. His reign reflects a mix of suffering, partial repentance, and continued failure to reform.
