King Asa (Judah) (jan 1, 911 BC – jan 1, 870 BC)
Description:
Asa was one of Judah’s early righteous kings. He removed idols, deposed pagan influences (even from his own family), and encouraged covenant faithfulness. When facing a massive Cushite army, he relied on God and was victorious. However, later in life, during conflict with Baasha king of Israel, he made an alliance with Aram instead of relying on God. The prophet Hanani rebuked him, but Asa reacted by imprisoning the prophet—showing a decline in his faith.
