- their followers known as “indulgents" —> meaning lenient or mericful
- Why did Danton and Desmoulins become less radical, when they played a role in getting Jacobins power
- situation at the time —> by 1794, federalist revolts were supressed, Vendean army had been defeated and the French began winning the war
- France was in a better situation —> terror became less necessary
