Europe experiences the Renaissance. Art, civic humanism, etc become a big deal is Europe. Also during this time, due partly because of Machiavelli's The Prince, monarchs allowed merchants to trade throughout their realms, granted privilege to the ar[tisan organizations called guilds, and safeguarded commercial transactions in royal law courts, thereby encouraging domestic manufacturing and foreign trade.
