The SI unit of measurement of electric charge is coulomb (C), which is named after him. His name is also one of the 72 names inscribed on the Eiffel Tower.
Family:
His father, Henry Coulomb, was a lawyer and royal administrator while his mother Catherine Bajet came from a wealthy family. Following a family rift over his career path his mother wanted him to be a doctor while he preferred mathematics- Coulomb was briefly disowned and lived with Louise Françoise LeProust Desormeaux; they had two sons born in 1790 and 1797 and eventually married in 1802
