The 1st Nuom Revolution (jul 17, 1841 – jan 18, 1847)
Description:
Internal struggle between various groups.
After the death of Ethalèvar Wídhi Kavvoipõ in 1840, the temporary government of Nuomdeim held numerous Constitutional Conventions to create a new ruling document. However, their final draft which was written into law on January 1, 1841 was not well accepted by the classes of the nation. Primarily, higher classes had issues with taxation and property rights and the lower classes with no labor laws.
Initially, the revolution began after bread protests were dealt with by use of the military. Higher class elites took control of the situation and became a "voice" for the lower classes and took it to the Senate of Nuomdeim. There, they only expressed the grievances of their own issues, not the lower classes, and so the lower classes took to the streets and started rioting. Military came in and total revolution began with lower class coalitions gaining support from Grossya while Oipienta sent support to the government.
The Revolution was drastic and was due to the government's struggle in controlling prices and inflation, issues with civil rights not mentioned in the constitution, little to almost no representation for lower classes or ethnic minorities (especially the Nuom clans), as well as just corrupt government agents that continued to hold power after the fall of Kavvoipõ. It devastated the Republic and the result of it was the creation of a new constitution and the executions of the government elites from the 2nd Republic. The Convention of the People took control and established the 3rd Republic of Nuomdeim, yet problems continued.
