Anglo-Tibetan War (dec 11, 1903 – sep 7, 1904)

Description:

A dispute in the borders between Tibet under administrative Qing rule and Sikkim led to the British invading the region and capturing the capital in Lhasa. The Treaty of Lhasa in 1904

1). The British allowed to trade in Yadong, Gyantse, and Gartok.

2). Tibet to pay a large indemnity, 7,500,000 rupees, with the Chumbi Valley to be ceded to Britain until paid.

3). Recognition of the Sikkim-Tibet border.

4). Tibet to have no relations with any other foreign powers.
