Description:

Though the Arakanids were lucky to not be in the direct vicinity of the Sedge Bay eruption, they could not escape its consequences.

The Outlanders are hit hardest. Already living in relative squalor, they are hit with interruptions to trade, and massive storms of volcanic ash and failed harvests that thrust them even deeper into poverty.

Pastoralists turned to raiding, and lesser clans begin warring over access to wells and oases. Local economies began to contract, and labour shortages mean that irrigation systems are neglected fall into disrepair.

Immense power is naturally concentrated in the clans dominating the central Heartland cities, who are able to produce their own grain and thus decide who is fed and who is not.
